Choker's Revenge

The smell of cigar smoke hangs in the air, forming into gray clouds at the top of the tent. It is a nice night, not too cold but certainly not hot either.  Certainly a nice night to throw a party, thought Ms. Melon, the host of the party. Ms. Melon spends the majority of the party strolling in between the tables, eavesdropping on the conversations of her guests. One conversation in particular caught her attention, and it was that of Captain Bushybeard and Choker (who was very obviously depressed after losing his dear cousin, Joker.) Bushybeard scoffs, “Batman cannot be beaten, Choker. It is not possible. You’ve seen the amount of villains that have tried to defeat him. Heck, if the Joker couldn’t do it, what in the world makes you think you can? He was the smartest in that whole family of yours.” Ms. Melon gets a little closer, sitting down at a nearby table. However, it seems like the Choker is reluctant to respond. Then suddenly, he gets a burst of rage. “I will avenge my cousin, Bushybeard. And if you do not want to help, fine. So be it. I will get the job done myself. But you just watch, the amount of people, heroic and villainous, that will respect me after this will be never-ending.” Choker stands up abruptly, looks around for a moment to locate Ms. Melon to tell her he was leaving, and when he sees her already staring at him it was obvious he knew that she was eavesdropping. Even the layer of pale white makeup on his face could not hide the redness of his face after getting even angrier. Tossing his chair aside, not to mention any people in his way, he leaves the party. Everyone is silent. Even Bushybeard, who is known to voice his opinion, is at a loss of words.

A few months later, it was in the paper that the Batman had been defeated. Needless to say, Bushybeard was disappointed.

  1. I am so Ms. Melon--I have a bad habit of eavesdropping myself. People say interesting things, and if they're loud enough for me to hear, I'm listening! :)

  2. I am the exact same way! If it shouldn't be heard by anyone, don't say it AROUND anyone!
