"Just Sit Down."

The red circle is where I was sitting!
*sitting on a bench in the west front entrance of the school*

Sitting on this bench in front of the school makes me feel nostalgic. It makes me think of how long I have gone to Kickapoo, and how different my life is now than it was when I first walked through these doors. From this spot I can see the spot I used to be dropped off at in the mornings. Where my dad would pick me up for orthodontist appointments sometimes. I see the parking spot of the drivers ed car, the first car I ever really drove. The front entrance of the school is to my left. I think about all the times I have walked through those doors. Sometimes I was sad, sometimes I was happy. This is the exact spot I was sitting on the last day of school a few years ago. The last student to leave the school. I have been here, in front of the school, in many types of weather. Sunny and hot, rainy, humid, snowy-- you name it. Today it is brisk outside. I enjoy it. The sky is gray with a little bit of pale blue peaking behind it. My favorite weather.

If...

13. If you had to name the most difficult thing about being a teenager today, what would you say?
It is hard to be a teenager because everyone expects you to act like an adult, but nobody wants to treat you like one.

16. If you could go back to one place in your life, where would you go?
I would go back to Saturday, November 30th, because my family was all together (unfortunately, excluding my little brother Patrick due to the fact that he had to go to work. :( ) in Branson. We were all getting along that day and had a lot of fun playing games and doing activities together. We decorated cookies, played Pacman, had Ping-Pong wars, Bingo, and even sang karaoke. We were not fighting, and even my mom was playing games and participating along with us. This does not happen very often, so it was a nice treat. I have to say this is one of my happiest memories in my life.

  1. I love the nostalgia of the first answer--I can see why you would be feeling wistful at this time in your life. Your family day sounds great--a memory you'll cherish for sure. And your line about teenagers is true. Very true.
