About a Boy Quote

"It happens, and I wish it didn't, but that's life, isn't it?"

I chose this quote because when I read it, I felt like it spoke to me. I think this is exactly what life is. Sometimes things happen and we are grateful, other times we are not so grateful. But whatever happens, we have to accept it. There is no way of changing the past regardless of if we want to or not. For example, I wish that I never lost any of my friends. Unfortunately, I cannot change that this happened. That is life. We accept what has happened and we move on. When I make friends with an old enemy, I am glad that it has happened and I cannot go back and change that. I accept the new reality. If I so please, I can try to reconnect with the old friend or I can try to make my new friend an enemy again. But this does not change the past, it is only changing the present. We must accept life, we do not really have a choice. Some things we can change for the present and the future, but the past cannot be altered. You cannot pretend you did not lose that friend for a period of time. You cannot change the fact that that this renewed enemy was once your friend. There are people in my life, maybe out of my life, that I wish had treated me differently. People that ignored my messages, people that made me feel used or worthless. I can choose to keep them out of my life now-- that is one of my choices now. However, I cannot go back and pretend they were never in my life. I cannot change the fact that I trusted them, change the fact that they hurt me. "It happens, and I wish it didn't, but that's life, isn't it?"

  1. Wisdom beyond your years here, Shay...I wish I was better at accepting the past and moving on...I'm full of regrets.

I am, however, gifted at gluing paper to the wall, as I mentioned, and I don't regret this little project, though I have since changed out the mirrors:

I love your envelope--and so will its recipients.

    1. I had to make a lot of changes in my mindset to be able to accept things like this. And I am not always as great at practicing this in real life as I am at putting it down on paper. Just lots of hard work and slapping my own wrist when I have to. haha. You should read "The Four Agreements." It helped me. :) One of my favorite books. :) It's been wonderful having your class! I'll miss it!
